MedCo allows solicitors to source experts to provide medical reports for soft tissue injury claims, part of personal injury claims in road traffic accidents.
How will the system work?
Any accredited Medical Reporting Organisation (MRO), qualified GP, physiotherapist, A&E consultant and orthopaedic consultant can register with MedCo.
A solicitor can search for individuals, or MROs, with which they do not have any financial links, to provide them with an initial medico-legal report for an RTA soft tissue injury.
The system will present the solicitor with a choice of randomly generated results. From these results they will be able to appoint an expert or MRO to instruct for their claim.
How will I know the standard of the expert or MRO?
ALL MROs and medical agencies are required to meet specific criteria set out by the board members of MedCo, this criteria was set out as:
|1.1 Obligation to declare all “direct financial links”.||Stewart House is fully independent and hold no financial links with any other organisation|
|1.2 Commitment to pay medical experts on set credit terms irrespective of the outcome of the case.||Stewart House has agreed payment terms with all its suppliers, and as a mark of commitment, has been a supporter of and listed on the Pay On Time campaign’s website since 2008.|
|1.3 A financial bond or other financial instrument of at least £20,000 demonstrating that the MRO has sufficient funds available to remunerate medial experts from whom it has commissioned medical reports in the case of failure of the MRO.||Stewart House has committed to the bond|
|Evidence of a minimum of £1m for professional indemnity insurance and £3m for public liability insurance.||Stewart House holds indemnity insurance|
|Compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements in relation to information security.||Stewart House is registered with the Data Protection Commissioner and our servers are secure.|
|Commitment to, and compliance with, anti-bribery legislation.||Stewart House do not pay or receive referral fees or commissions, and have no financial links to any solicitor firms, insurance companies or Claims Management Companies.|

In addition to these criteria, we cover the following criteria that is required by tier one MROs:
- Minimum of two years of trading history
- Arrangements with at least 250 individual medical experts who are able to provide medical reports
A documented recovery plan (DRP) and Business Continuity Plan (BCP), returning to normal operation within a maximum of 72 hours.
- Appointment of nominated Caldicott Guardian.
